Pleased to meet you!

Origins

The Short Version:

I make worship music to make your heart pump harder, your feet move faster, and your day seem brighter. Blending emotionally accessible lyrics with musical fun, these songs feel as comfortable in the car with the windows down as they do in the sanctuary.

The Long Version:

Years ago I was asked to help out with some music in my church. Eventually this evolved into making music in basements and backporches with family and friends. Somewhere between the sanctuary and the living room, I got the idea in my head that I had something to say. It felt even better with rhymes, rhythms, and whatever instruments my friends wanted to add to the mix.

Wilmesherr was born out of the idea that music can bring people together, set their feet tapping and their heads bobbing in unison. And when people come together, something new and beautiful is realized: that we all have a desire to be known as well as to know each other. So if you get nothing else from me and all my songs about faith and belief and what it means to be alive, the weird and the mundane, the dramatic and the subtle, I hope you make it to the end of these songs knowing you are not alone.

Truth be told, I consider myself more of a philosopher or a pastor who happens to make music. I find that it works like a rain barrel. Tons of water falls from the sky, and this is one way to collect it. Music helps me organize my thoughts and communicate better with others. So I’m grateful to you for sticking around and dipping your toe into this rain barrel of thoughts I’m collecting. Hopefully you find it refreshing.
